I don't think explaining would have help. It sounds like a Howard Stern type of show. Either the show was trying to be offensive on purposes or they are just insensitive bigots that don't know how to deal with people.

Many people are apart of groups that deal with hatred and bigotry; I would like to think Talk shows would know better on how to talk to people. Then again may talk shows are hosted by bigots.
