AM! Next Album...make or break?

Cool - I didn't even see that - looks like we were both right - In Utero is so raw, so powerful, Twisted Sister re-made Stay Hungry - called, Still Hungry and they did the same thing - recorded it raw, live, powerful.

Bad taste for the new album, but better version of 'We're not Gonna Take It.'

Litt was brought in by the record company because the sound was so raw - "the grown ups didn't like it." A few songs were remixed, but they fought to keep that amazing sound - AM! should really do the same. Damn - that would, as arollo would say, give me a boner.

Nah I don't. I don't remember in the past Against Me! releasing songs like that waaaay before the album released. Except the stolen demo but that was an exception.

I could be wrong, but I have a feeling we'll either get an EP to bide the time or they won't appear as main tracks on the album as the songs they are

Tbf I really hope they're not on the new album.

I mean, they're great songs, but we'll only get like 10-12 songs on the new albm, so I'd rather them all be new.

Like with New Wave, was so disappointed when out of 10 new songs, one of them was Americans Abroad. A song we had from their last "album".

I was the same, I downloaded it (pirate) and was firstly like ah this is quite good. Then I was like 10 Songs! What the hell, it's not really value for money is it. Saying that I didn't buy it anyway

I agree - I really loved the idea of a live only release of a song - I thought it was brilliant, it was new, it was revolutionary ... then it came out on NW and I much, much, much rather the live album.

Why not a live album of all new material? Fuck me - that would be to die for.

So I guess we'll be looking at like 2009, with maybe them going in to record it in the winter after Warped etc.

It seems like an eternity ago New Wave came out. I've only got 2 albums I'm looking out for this year and that Gaslight Anthem - 59 Sound and King Blues - Jamie won't tell me the album title

Good point about the time, but I have many great albums that don't run too long. I hope they do something cool like they did with the DVD and the teasers. I was so hooked on those video teasers!

Hard to judge with AM! on directions, they like to surprise, tread new ground.

Which is a great thing about them. Yeah the AM! video Q+A were awesome.

Sorry for the double post - but I remember Tom saying at some point that Andrew, James & Warren were playing a more integral part in the songwriting process - which could explain shifts in sound and direction. I'd like to see them write more songs.

Exactly. An EP would be a refreshing change.

I remember reading an interview with Tom right after New Wave came out where he was asked what they had planned for the next couple of years. He said that they could possibly put another EP out sometime before the next full-length. It seems possible, I'm really hoping it happens.

But not a bad album, by any measure.

Unless we're comparing it to The Special's first album, which makes everything look horrendous since it's probably the best album ever written.
