How is there no thread for Alkaline Trio already?

Unfortuneatly, I didn't really care for Alk3 live. I really like they're songs, and they played alright, but they lack a stage presence. At least, at the show I went to. It was a decent venue, sold out, a lot of people, but they jsut kind of stood there and played. And their sound guy fucking sucked. The bass drum was way to loud, and I couldn't even hear the bass guitar over it. But I still like them, they still talked and had fun, so it's not bug deal.

N. Pants, I actually feel the exact same way! I saw them play about 5 years ago in NC. And it easily made my top 5 worsts concerts. They just stood there... no energy at all.

Which part of NC?

I've loved Alkaline Trio since I was in the 5th grade, I remember my brother showing me all of their stuff but I especially liked Radio, I've never been able to see them though because they haven't played even remotely close to where I've lived.

I saw them at warped and they didn't move much, but I assumed that was because it was a big venue and they had just left the autograph tent and shit, which could give a guy a headache for sure.

But I'm seeing them on July 9th at Chitown House of Blues. It's a hometown show and should be a blast. And they're playing the 2nd at summerfest in Milwaukee, which I hope to be at. Hell yes....

I know what ya mean e6c, lol. I remember, I had barely listened to AM! before that concert (when they opened for alk3), and I was like, cool, I get to see Alk3 and some new band my friend said rocks. Holy shit, Against Me! blew me out of the water, and it has been love ever since, haha. And after being so pumped up from Against Me!s show.....Alk3 just stood there.

Hahaha! I have no idea what you guys are talking about, every time I've seen Alkaline Trio play, they've been awesome. Maybe they just like the UK better!

My co-worker and I are having an Alk3 marathor today, it's pretty awesome. I'm stoked for tonightttttt.

Ahh it was so fun! The setlist was amazing, so many old songs. Matt was sick, so we basically had to sing his songs for him. I somehow got a bloody nose, but it was great.

Very good times! The set list was amazing.
Also, some chick who was on America's Next Top Model was rocking out next to us, I thought that was kind of amusing.

Damn, I can't remember all of it. Some chick next to us took a good picture of the set list before the show started, and we were able to find out what they played beforehand. They opened with "Private Eye," and closed with "Radio." They only played two brand new songs, but they also played (in no particular order):

wow, this looks beyond awesome. they played a lot of my favorites (private eye, crawl, clavicle, old school reasons, and radio of course). if this is what i get to see, then i will be happy for an extended period of time. however.................. NOSE OVER TAIL!!

They played Nose Over Tail the last time I saw them. I was surprised because it was at a festival. But yea, I didn't realize how many songs they played until I typed that out.

Damn, did you find a picture of the set list or something? I don't remember that many songs either, but I guess time flies by when you're having fun.

Yay. I'm gonna stop buying CDs, only vinyl for me now. Unless it's only released on CD, but most bands seem to be releasing vinyl now.

i think they made their money and half ass their shows now. when AM! opened for them 4 or 5 years ago I decided to really stop supporting them. i went to another show after that and realized i don't even like them anymore....guess i can thank them to brining to like an even better band.

I remember a few years ago a friend and I had no tickets to their show with Rise Against and Death by Stereo (almost my dream tour) and we showed up balls-ache early in the summer heat and we met Matt Skiba and he gave us tickets for the show. It was the badassest thing that has yet to happen to me.
