| I was just wondering what's being sung in the background of the chorus. I am getting 'I'd never forget if you died for me' but I'm ever so unsure. Can anyone enlighten me? | |

| yeah earlier in this thread it's mentioned. but it does really sound like "and I can not forget what you've done for me" and it makes sense too, it being about his mom and all | |

| Idk why, but I just realized the first letters of Walking Is Still Honest spells out WISH, and that totally blew my mind.

| I'm sort of surprised that WISH (hmmm did she do that on purpose?) hasn't been commented on in here in light of recent revalations. There is a such a specific rage and frustration at Syssiphan futlility in this song that to me it has to be a song about being someone who is trans. I know how I see it from my perspective, and I know which lyrics scream out at me, but I'd like to hear what other people think looking back on this old tune before I shade anyone's perspective more than i may already have.

| In addition to Tom's refusal of his mother's Christianity, I also interpreted this song as a sort of coming of age moment. I always heard these lyrics as Tom's internal monologue as he leaves home for good to find his own path. I envision him walking (with a purpose) out of the front door of his parents' house and into the sunset to begin life on his own terms. | |

| "My legacy was making you a man for a justice I cannot change"
This lyric makes so much sense to me now. Laura felt the need to make her mother proud by making herself a good man. And at the time "change" or transition wasn't even an option. She was inflicted with an injustice from "god" ... at least that what I feel like she means. | |
