Yeah, I'm sure Tony Whatshisface was shivering in his boots when he heard that.
I don't think this is 'Obama's Katrina' but its about as bad. Of course I'm not even going to get started on how effing ridiculous it is that Katrina is considered by so many people to be Bush's biggest failure... Anyways, this isn't a natural disaster and the way that the federal government has been tiptoeing around BP and not taking charge, not demanding information, not being honest about the extent of the damage, etc. clearly illustrates that fact that corporate interests take precedent over the interests of the actual human beings that live in this country. I can go to jail for having over an ounce of pot (which will hurt no one) but these fuckers can shit all over the Gulf Coast and kill wildlife and ruin people's lives with their negligence and all the consequences they face are bad PR and maybe a small decline in income. The people who were working for the Minerals Management Service whenever BP got permission to build this rig should be prosecuted (of course I don't expect that that would actually happen) and BP should not be allowed any offshore drilling privileges in the US ever again. Also, BP should be paying these fisherman's salaries for the rest of their lives. They've ruined Louisiana's wetlands and killed all the fucking fish. Now I know what those Nigerian MEND people are so pissed off about. The actual leak may be stopped by the end of the summer but the Gulf Coast is going to be feeling the effects of this for a long ass time now.

It's pretty neat from a metaphorical stand point. Taking dirty black oil, the precious substance that pollutes our environment and encourages war and greed worldwide, and turning it into water, the pure and abundant fluid that makes life sustainable.

Or then again maybe its just Kevin Costner's diabolical plot to recreate the world depicted in his classic movie "Water World". Only time will tell.

You call it diabolical, I call it genius. There's only one way I'll ever see the top of Mt. Everest and that is if I float up to it.

Yes, temporarily.
But who knows how long the damage is going to be affecting us. All the fucking fish are still dead.

There's going to be a special session down here about offshore drilling. I'm going to a rally next week to tell the politicians to say FUCK NO to offshore drilling.
Can I also just say that I love it when conservatives (Elizabeth Hasselbeck comes to mind) complain about regulations, but the second the oil spill happened, they jumped on Obama for not regulating enough. I guess it's only OK when Republicans don't regulate corporations.

hey we elect all of the bastards so who is really to blame. if you want something done sometimes you gotta do it yourself, because no one else knows how. having said that.....can anyone honestly express suprise that a politician lied. i men come on thats what we pay them to do is lie.

The "HEY WE ELECTED THEM" argument really doesn't hold much water you know. We get the choice between a corporate sponsored candidate and a corporate sponsored candidate and neither one has our best interests in mind.
And yes Democrats do contradict themselves but how can you not see the ridiculousness in all of the finger pointing at Obama thats going on when throughout the 08 election and up until the spill we were constantly hearing these right wing douchebags chanting DRILL BABY DRILL. And now that they see the consequences of deep sea drilling we're not really hearing that anymore, instead we're hearing about how this is "Obama's Katrina" (because apparently Katrina was Bush's real failure ((not the wars, the economy, the massive deficit...)))
Of course I think Obama's handling of the situation has been a total failure but all the blame being placed on him is just another part of the Republicans attempt to get him out of office. I mean, I agree that Democrats contradict themselves (constantly) but the Republicans are just ruthless about going after their opponents and they don't let logic, reason or things that they've said in the past get in their way. Sometimes I wish the Democrats would be that way because then maybe they would actually get shit done. Its amazing the angles that Republicans use to rouse public opinion, and it actually works. People will believe fucking anything.

like i said DO something about it pass out fliers find a canidate worth backing and go for it im dealing with our local gubernatorial election here and everyone is bitching already that this racist biggot jesus loving scary lady is going to get elected and the primary isnt even over yet. political careers generally start at the local level where your vote and opinion do matter so the "hey we elected them" argument does hold water these fuck heads work for us never forget that

They don't work for us.
Local government can be changed, yes, but you're not going to find any major national candidates who have radically different policies from those already in office. The presidency and the Senate especially are out of our control. It takes billions of dollars to run a successful campaign. Someone who can afford that doesn't give a shit about you or me.
