| Personally I love oil suspended in water, looks all rainbow and shiny.
But seriously I think the upside of it is finally America gets a taste (albeit a tiny one) of how fucked up other countries get from having their natural resources recklessly taken. Too the majority of your country won't even realise.
Hopefully some wildlife foundation will sue the shit out of them though.

| there's been plenty of oil spills here... it's not our first "taste..." other countries come right below us to drill, we don't drill there. BP is trying to stop the oil. it's not as easy as everyone is trying to make it seem. they hope to have it stopped by this weekend, apparently. and i'm not completely opposed to off-shore drilling. we need oil. and wherever someone tries to get it, someone else is going to try to keep that from happening. | |

True facts, but this is one of the worst since...ever. But yeah it does look pretty.

| This whole thing just keeps looking worse and worse. This is the thirty-eighth day of the leak. They're estimating that the amount being spilled is like three times more than originally thought. Apparently lax regulation played a big part in this. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/8706077.stm "In its plan for Deepwater Horizon, BP claimed that in the unlikely event of a spill, it could cope with a worst-case scenario around 30 times bigger than the spill it is currently grappling with. The federal regulator, the Minerals Management Service (MMS), also decided to exempt BP from supplying an environmental assessment of Deepwater Horizon's impact on the Gulf of Mexico, because it decided a spill would be small and unlikely to reach shore. " http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7609597.stm The Minerals Management Service, which is supposed to be regulating BP has been literally in bed with them the whole time. "The report says several workers at the agency that collects drilling royalties received gifts from energy companies. Some employees also partied with energy company representatives, having sex and taking illegal drugs, the report said. " Cool pics though Anyway. Did anyone see Obama's press conference earlier today? Any thoughts? | |

"BOOTHVILLE, La. – There is still a hole in the Earth, crude oil is still spewing from it and there is still, excruciatingly, no end in sight. After trying and trying again, one of the world's largest corporations, backed and pushed by the world's most powerful government, can't stop the runaway gusher.
As desperation grows and ecological misery spreads, the operative word on the ground now is, incredibly, August -- the earliest moment that a real resolution could be at hand. And even then, there's no guarantee of success. For the United States and the people of its beleaguered Gulf Coast, a dispiriting summer of oil and anger lies dead ahead.
Oh ... and the Atlantic hurricane season begins Tuesday."

| Its 9 miles from hitting the shore where I live. The news says it will be here by Wed, but all the boat captains said they got emails from the mayor or someone, said it would be here by Saturday. Awesome. Ha I'll be at the tourney with Ian on Sat, but atleast I have something to look foward to when I get back... v.v | |

| BP just needs to sack up and get this shit cleaned up. I mean for God's sake how do you run an oil company and never think "Well what if we have a spill? Nah that won't happen so we will never need a back up plan!". So Tony Hayward I've never seen a company drop the ball like this and I'm so sorry if we here in America are hassling you but we'd really like the gulf back if that won't interfere in your 'life' too much. And Obama needs to get his ass in gear, I was ok with it for a bit and even disagreed when new people were saying this was Obama's Katrina, but for real he's sat on his hands long enough so now when he talks about it like on the Today Show he has to act all pissed and concern. Like a what point when someone said theres oil flooding into the gulf at 40,000 gallons a day was someone like "oh thats not that bad". I mean US Government and BP get this crap in check.
Can another celebrity die so we'll have some more news to watch instead of the spill?
