Also this whole Shirley Sherrod thing that happened was pretty fucking ridiculous. Not just the fact that this Breitbart guy edited the tapes to make her look racist, but the fact that she was fired so quickly. It's really disturbing how diluted the whole Tea Party movement has become.
I was actually at one of the first Tea Parties on tax day 2009, covering it for my school newspaper. Although I didn't really agree with a lot of what was being said, the environment was still overwhelmingly positive. There was no racism or promotion of violence, it mainly seemed to be a bunch of conservative local business owners who were opposed to the stimulus package and bailout bills.
I guess that was before the whole movement was hijacked by politicians, radio-talk show hosts, Fox News and the throngs of right-winged wackos that use it as an outlet to spew their bigoted redirect behind a patriotic facade. Crazy people always fuck everything up.
