| I've been trying to figure out the way he plays the chorus and its really hard to find on any website. Can someone help me out on this. The crime version is my favorite version so thats the one i've been trying to figure out. I'm not to sure if its just the tone of his guitar or if hes playing odd cords like in I Still Love You Julie | |

| Tom Gabel is chord machine. I'll be surprised if anyone ever figures out how to play any song he wrote correctly. | |

| ha for me i just got the 3-4-3-0 pattern down on the 4 string while playing the D chord in the intro..
i know cowards is probably the best example that and pretty much all of heart burns -anna, but his chords are so uncommon thats what makes him great | |

| The RAR version is pretty simple, but I can't figure out the Crime one either. Where the fuck did Tom learn all of those weird chords? | |

| I've listend to it so many damn times and i really still cant figure it out. It sounds like he has another guitar playing an open string and his guitar playing the progression going up I"m not to sure though. | |

| RAR is easier because James parts are higher in the mix then Tom's. James is a better lead player then tom ,but on most pre ATEC songs, the songs are simpler, Tom does a much better job with all his chords..probably cause most of them were written for just Tom and Kevin. | |

| ok so you might not be able to understand this...i barely can. but i'll try to explain how i play it and how i believe tom plays it. building off this http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/a/against_me/walking_is_still_honest_crd.htm the verses start out with the D riff and then goes to a B chord (x244xx) and then x042xx followed by 000000 and then a normal A chord. the pre-chorus is an E chord and then while playing the chord you add your pinky on the fourth fret of the D string and then lay your index finger across the second fret so your finger's pushing down on the second fret of the G string. so it starts out regular E and then add pinky and then add 2nd fret of G string. so at the end of that part the chord ends up looking like 024200. after the E part you play 300000 and like the E part same with adding your pinky and index finger so at the end it ends up as 3x42xx. then the chorus is the same GDABA blah blah blah progression and after the chorus you play xx4432 and then A and then G. and that's it. i never learned how to play guitar really. just watched green day videos as a kid a lot and "learned" from there. i was gonna make a video but that seemed too complicated. any questions just ask. i expect many. | |

| All I have to do is slap it about a bit first and eventually it hardens up and I can play with it.
