I want it to be cool but if it's not, I don't really care at all. | |

| OTIP was a lot like hiking a mountain. There were lows (by no accounts bad songs, if anything they were some of the more fun songs on the album), and there were extreme highs (OTIP into Nice Things) that this new album doesn't quite hit. That being said Rented World cruises and doesn't go up or down to the extent of OTIP. It's a more solid, consistent and mature album. Perfect follow up to an album held in high regards like OTIP. | |

| One listen so far, and I'd give Rented World a 7/10, but with a 100% guarantee* it will go up.
The stand-out tracks were the two they already released ("In Remission" and "I Don't Wanna Be An Asshole Anymore"), as well as "The Talk". The other 9 songs were all good, and I know future listens will make me fall in love with more of the tracks.
One thing though... are Greg and Tom singing semi-similar in select songs and I just misinterpreted some voices here and there, or is the ratio of Greg to Tom songs 9 to 3?
---- *= When both Chamberlain Waits and On The Impossible Past came out, my initial scores were a 6/10 or some shit, and within a few weeks they both went up to (and remain at) a 9/10. Their first album is still a 6/10 (some incredibly insane songs, and some I want to punch in their non-existent faces). | |

| Fucking love it! That doesn't mean I have to like everything that's considered punk. If you want to nitpick, I wouldn't even consider The Menzingers a punk band, really. | |

I say this because you think the recent AM! albums are better than the old ones, you don't like Banner Pilot or Sidekicks, and you think A Lesson in the Abuse of Information Technology is a "6/10". I'm not saying you're wrong not to like those things but it just indicates that your preferences lean more towards straightforward rock rather than punk. | |

| Though I do absolutely adore "punk", you are onto something. When going through many bands' discographies, the albums that are usually voted "the worst" are the ones I like the most.
Examples: Against Me!- White Crosses The Lawrence Arms- A Guided Tour of Chicago Bouncing Souls- Ghosts On The Boardwalk / Hopeless Romantic (tie) Street Dogs- State of Grace Anti Flag- The Bright Lights of America Suicide Machines- Steal This Record Good Riddance- My Republic Dead To Me- Moscow Penny Ante
Or, the albums people vote "the best" (or high-ranking) are the ones I think are each band's worst: Alkaline Trio- From Here To Infirmary Against Me!- Reinventing Axl Rose Bouncing Souls- How I Spent My Summer Vacation Big D & The Kids Table- Good Luck / How It Goes Green Day- 39 Smooth / Kerplunk Bad Religion- Suffer / No Control (though Into The Unknown is the general consensus) Propagandhi- Less Talk More Rock The Lawrence Arms- The Greatest Story Ever Told Less Than Jake- Anthem That's not to say any of these are bad albums (I like each and every one of them), but I'd rather listen to a different album.

| "The Talk" is currently my favorite song from The Menzingers. "Nothing Feels Good Anymore" has also skyrocketed in my liking.
I only wish Tom sang a bit more on this album though. | |

| This album has certainly done really well after a near week of listening. I'm loving "Nothing Feels Good Anymore", "Transient Love," and "I Know Where Your Heartache Exist."
I love when they get out of their comfort zone. They really knocked it out of the park for mid-tempo rock, the songs are so full sounding. | |
