I always feel guilty because I could never get into Jawbreaker. Maybe I was just listening to the wrong songs? Recommend me some. They have the video with the dalmatian and their fire fighters right? I get them mixed up with that other band ..I think it starts with a J? Daryl Palumbo is in it?

Jawbreaker are possibly the greatest band ever. Seriously. I know everyone here loves AM! and everything, and please don't kill me, but they don't have shit on Jawbreaker lyrically. They are a great great band. Forget Glassjaw and listen to Dear You.

Oh. My. God. Fireman is seriously one of my favourite songs. The lyrics are amazing! AMAZING!

Jawbreaker make me happeh. Blake Schwarzenbach is a fucking genius.

in my opinion jawbreaker is the best punk band of the best 20 years.

i know, you guys will hate me for saying that because this is an against me forum. granted, against me is up there - but Blake Schwarzenbach of jawbreaker is a genius. he is passionate, intelligent and the greatest writer to play in any band I've ever listened to.

And punk is about raw, passionate, sloppy, HONEST rock and roll. He couldn't sing well, he couldn't even play guitar spectacular, shit, his songs were constructed in pretty generic ways. but he was an incredible lyricist and sang his heart out. he knew how to use the music/noise to vary in levels and rhythms that directly complimented the words he sang.

Most people don't like jawbreaker because they are a very rough edged band. most of their albums tend to have a low production level, and everything sounds distorted, but the more you read his lyrics, the more you'll see how incredible they are.

the majority of my friends that like jawbreaker did it backwards... they got into jets to brazil first and eased their way into jawbreaker. apparently blake takes some getting used to.



and just for the record, chris bauermeister's new band with matt from latterman, shorebirds, is ridiculously awesome.

so fun fact: my stepmom got me into jawbreaker because she had 24 hour revenge therapy, and the reason she had it is because she and blake are first cousins, which is fairly cool. when she and my dad got married a couple years ago, some of the schwarzenbachs were there, but no blake, haha.

HA! thats fantastic. my friend's exboyfriend's brother used to be roommates with blake (i guess the amazingly hard to find bside "schneider" is about him... him being bill schneider of pinhead gunpowder, monsula, green day's tour manager etc), but thats not nearly as impressive as your story. blake is a flake!

haha yeah, she didn't even tell me the first time, she was just like "you might like this" and also gave me weezer's blue album, and dookie. then like a year or two later, my dad was looking through my cds and was like, you have a lot of story's cousin's band in here. and I'm like who? when he said jawbreaker I nearly shit my pants

my friend had Blake as an English professor.

He used to teach at Hunter college here in New York. (just recently stopped)

I almost transferred to Hunter just because of it. Seriously. But then I felt too stalkerish for that. I still may transfer to Hunter despite him no longer teaching there.

Believe it or not, my friend told me most people didn't know who he was, or really care who he was. He said he did have people join his class just because they were Jawbreaker fans, but he always found that a little weird. I mean, he probably is awesome, but it would be surreal to have him teaching English Lit to me.

guh. I would have died if Blake Schwarzenbach was my teacher... To have him grading my papers would have been nerve-wracking. Probably would have made me pull out all the stops and work harder than usual.

I go to a CUNY, (a City University of New York), and I could have easily transferred to Hunter because it is also a CUNY (so it basically means it's apart of the same university I'm current at). I regret not doing so, because I probably would have taken that class with my friend, and she just by random chance, got Blake as her teacher.

I was thinking that I wouldn't be able to handle him teaching me haha. I would be like the guys slave, doing anything he said, and if i got like a B, I'd be ashamed because I would want him to think I was awesome. lol

Hahaha, I would LOVE to walk into class and have Blake standing there. I would be the person that would sit at the front of every lecture, do all the reading twice, spend my life in the library until I got assignments for him finished, get a C, and feel happy that Blake Schwarzenbach gave ME a C.

Oh wait. That's me with my sociology lecturer already.

blake needs to get back into the business of making tunes for my sake!
jawbreaker is quite possibly in my top 3 favorite bands ever, dear you and 24 hour revenge therapy being contenders for my 10 most-listened-to albums of all time. jets to brazil is good stuff as well.

favorite band of all time. hands down, no contest. i can't wait for the remastered releases.
