I think Laura handled that beautifully. And while my gut reaction is that I really really hate Kevin & Bean, I can't help but remember everyone fumbling with pronouns a year and a half ago and saying the wrong things while often trying to say the right thing (myself very much included). At the same time they're professional hosts who knew they were doing this interview in advance and could've done some research so maybe fuck them after all.

I wrote something about that, but then deleted it again. (On the other hand it's not like he talked a lot in past interviews, but at leat he said a few words. Actually an interviewer should react in such a case and ask people like him directly.)

All of these recent write ups have been great. Can tell Laura understands herself more now than during last year's news shitstorm. Usually there are a lot of dud articles around the time a new album comes out, but these have all been informative with each one having new info.

Weil wir damit immer noch nicht genug Probleme hatten, rief dann unsere Fotografin Katharina aus New York an und berichtete, wie gerade ihr Titelshoot mit Against Me! ins Wasser gefallen war. Geplant waren Außenaufnahmen in den Straßen von Manhattan, doch die Band boykottierte die Idee, offenbar aus bloßer Unlust. Man solle das bitte nicht persönlich nehmen. So wurde aus Katharinas einstündiger Outdoorsession mit der Band ein kaum zehnminütiger Schnellschuss unter erschwerten Bedingungen – innen, bei fahlem Licht, mit einer missgelaunten Laura Jane Grace. Am Ende mussten wir auf ein Coverfoto eines anderen Fotografen ausweichen, der die Frontfrau auf einem weniger falschen Fuß erwischt hatte. Rockstar-Allüren? Against Me! sollten es besser wissen. Auch Britta Helm hatte bei ihrem Interview mit Grace zu kämpfen. „Ich bin zwischendurch etwas an ihr verzweifelt“, so Britta. „Sie mag Journalisten anscheinend nicht besonders und dachte wohl, ich will ihr was – dabei bin ich ihr größter Fan. Aber es ist natürlich auch schwierig, ihr das in einem halbstündigen Interview zwischen zig anderen zu vermitteln.“

I don't feel like translating everything, but a few things: It says that the band "boycotted" a photo shoot in the streets of Manhattan out of "pure reluctance". The band told the photograph not to take it personally. The latter then had to take indoor pictures of Laura who was "ill-humored" and the magazine had to use archive photos for their cover instead: "Rock stars with airs and graces? Against Me! should know better." The interviewer for the article also "sporadically became exasperated with her": "She apparently doesn't like journalists very much and thought that I had something against her."

They say that all other Against Me! members are "just means to an end" for Laura's music (in German at the beginning). While this might be true for some, I'd say it definitely isn't true for James. Already complained via twitter.

We are flushing those out now a little, playing around at sound check and whenever we have the time and we are in the right vibe space to just sit around and jam together.
