Yes.
And if you turn it into a sun, Europa will melt, and free the sea creatures trapped under the ice!

It's not as awesome as the Martian moons. Deimos has a fucking awesome name, Phobos is shaped like a potato that's been ripped to shreds, they are named after 'Fear' and 'Dread', respectively, and they both appear in the first Doom game. Also this picture always makes me laugh...
Also, am I right in saying that if Jupiter didn't exist, Earth would be fucked? I read that Jupiter's gravity pulls in all the shit that's flying towards Earth. Apparently humans could live in Jupiter's atmosphere, too.

I thought this thread was about this Futureheads song and I got all excited:
But space blows my mind. It's such a head fuck. The scale of it is just beyond my comprehension. Bill Bryson's book A Short History Of Nearly Everything has a few chapters on space that I've had to re-read several times because it's just so fascinating to me.

See, that's what I mean. That is mass on a unimaginably large scale. Freaky shit.
Also, what I love is that we have things that can photogrpah this sort of stuff. That is an amazing achievement, and probably involves some sort of witch craft. We get so used to seeing this sort of thing that I think sometimes we forget how amazing it is and just how clever things have to be for us to see stars that are light years away. Humans have done some great stuff.

Zamboni is sometimes used as a verb, so unzambonied is acceptable.

space always blows my mind. You see a tail from a comet on your TV and your like "thats cool i guess." then the narrator says "the tail from this comet is 78126123576 miles long." wtf, It takes 24 hours to get to Key West from Baltimore.
then you think we have only explored 4% of the Ocean...

The thing is though, there's probably civilisations out there that have mastered time control and teleportation and been destroyed. Every person's movement on Earth is probably being watched by someone out there.
I always wonder what little things will be different in extra-terrestrial civilisations. Like... do they eat with forks and knives? Did robots take them over? What do they look like? That's crazy. Maybe Jesus was from another planet, and his father was called God on his home planet. Fuck.

Fuck ET's. I was just walking my dog and thought this.... What if theres a whole civilization under the Ocean? B/c of water pressure we can't dive that far but what if there's a race with the opposite problem. They need the immense pressure to survive. The further to the surface they travel the less pressure and instead of being crushed they fall apart...............

Yeah with Challenger Deep, I think they saw life surviving down there at water temperatures of like 300 celsius or more. They're the only things I'm interested in, Space and oceans. I say the only as though they're not fucking huge.

Have you ever seen the movie where that's actually the thing. There's this advanced society in our ocean really far down. I don't remember much else about the movie other than being awed by the thought.
Is anyone else bummed that NASA is closing down about the time when they're supposed to be putting up a new satellite that's supposed to be a shit load stronger than the one that's up there, giving us the ability to see things we've never seen before and better pictures of what we have seen?
I keep hoping that one day we'll take a picture and accidentally snap a picture of a creature that lives in space.

Kind of? I think officially there's still going to be a NASA but it's not really going to NASA. It's part of the budget cuts to cut down our national debt. Apparently the pursuit of awesomeness costs too much.

There is also the great debate on whether to keep spending a shit ton of money on space research or use that money to solve problems here on earth.
