Yeah, most of their music isn't balls to the wall, foot to the floor tempo. I'd say the stuff that gets closest to that are their releases pre-London Calling. Try The Clash or Give 'Em Enough Rope if that's the sort of thing you like most.

Go for the American version of The Clash (album). It has got White Man In Hammersmith Palais on it. One of THE best songs evar if you'd ask me.

No you're not a cunt! Just someone who maybe needs a nudge in the right direction (How patronisingly cunty is that sentence?) Yes, their lyrics are as important as the music. Joe was an amazing lyricist. But good luck figuring out some of his ad libs!

It's a bit like Dillinger Four. It sounds cool, but only if you read the lyrics you'll get a 'full circle'. Everything in that song makes sense after you read the lyrics.

Yeah, and maybe dig a little into the stories behind the songs. Learning what formed some of the songs helped me love them so much more. Sure, it's a little like hard work but putting time and effort into a band can be so rewarding, especially when that band is The Clash.

the clash arent everything they are hyped up to be.... that just my opinion and you cant change that. So Aarnkrry dont feel bad.

i was saying dont feel bad for not likely the clash. never thought you where trying to bring him down. And for me its like this, if the clash come on the radio or whatever i wont change it but i will never put on one of their cd's by myself to listen too.

Their eponymous debut album is MUCH more like it, for me, although I am beginning to long for the cleaner sounds of London Calling. I'm such a pedantic cunt.

Also, the song Jimmy Jazz? It fucking sucks.

I rocked a Clash shirt from Six Grade all the way through high school so hard. It turned grey, had numerous holes in it and was well known between people.

I had to retire it. It's like a trophy. The Clash is also the very first poster I ever bought for my room. I was like 8

Yeah, when I first got London Calling I used to always skip over Jimmy Jazz but now I like it.
Hateful is my favorite though, I think.
