So AarnKrry admitted in the ask the person below you thread that he thinks The Clash suck. In this thread, we must go about changing his mind. I will start:

The part in Armagideon Time where Kosmo Vinyl tells the band to wrap the song up (due to his fixation with short, radio friendly singles or something) and Joe yells back "OKAY, OKAY, DON'T PUSH US WHEN WE'RE... HOT!!!" is just unreal. A band that really gets and believes in the music they're making, even though it was a cover song! The fact that they left it in the mix is just incredible.

Also, its amazing how many bands wouldn't be here without the Clash. Operation Ivy, Against Me!, a whole slew of reggae-punk bands...
I mean, The Clash are the band that brought like, a social conscience to punk rock.
I mean...its the fucking Clash.

I 5*'d every thing on London Calling, because I listened to it and it was good to listen to but I didn't really care about hearing it again. Funnily enough, it's the only album I've bought so far this year, besides Cancer Bats and AM!

That seems fair. Maybe get the Essential Clash since that covers most of their albums, or the Singles CD. They're a good introduction.

I can understand why people don't like The Clash.

I went into my first listen of London Calling with so many misconceptions of what it would sound like. Up to that point I had only heard "Should I Stay or Should I go?" and I expected all of their songs to sound like that. I was kind of put off by all of the slow jazzy reggae and never really gave the album a real chance.

A couple years later I kind of forced myself to listen to/like The Clash and I was successful. They're not my favorite band by any stretch of the imagination but they certainly don't suck. Give London Calling a few more plays.

I just can't understand it. I know that's wrong of me, but it just doesn't compute. They were just the perfect fucking band for a while. Their music is a cornerstone of my taste in music, they're so vital to me.

No, I'm not trying to be a dick either, but please don't write them off forever. In time I'm sure you'll get it. One day you'll look in the mirror and you'll be like "Fuck me! I'm a Clash fan! When did that happen?!" Consider this thread to be an Intervention. You are doing something wrong with your life and we're just saying "Hey, there's another way for you." But you can't be pushed into this, you have to want to do it.
