I only checked the "searching for a former claritys" group on fb in the last weeks. But I'll try to post here more often because let's face it. Compared to the ppl on this forum the facebook group really sucks!

I remember when this forum was bumping, I couldn't wait to get home from school and log on here and see what posts I missed.  I'd be on this forum all night, checking to see who replied.  I'm sure others felt the same.  It was an escape, where I could be a fan boy with others just like me.  I could be myself, I could relate to people.  I could be fun to hang around on this forum even though I couldn't be to my friends at school.

I even traveled across North America to Fest and hanged out with a bunch of you guys.  It's a nice feeling when you can meet someone in person for the first time and feel like you have so much in common.  That's what I love about this forum.  We have a common passion for Against Me! and everything else just followed naturally.

I've been thinking as to why this forum deflated.  My guess was lack of new interest in the band after white crosses, we were getting older (and so was the band) and it seemed less and less people were getting as invested as we were into the band.  I mean, people would still appreciate the band, just like I appreciate many bands, but never got as passionate about as Against Me!.  

The forum picked up when Tom transitioned to Laura, but I felt that many discussions and topics surrounding that didn't create the friendliest and most welcoming environment.  I feel this is because there wasn't that uniting passion for the music that originally drew us in.  We diffused a bit and became a less niche community.  People aren't as interested seeing topics that they don't feel passionate about, or want to contribute to.

Now we just occasionally check in to see the familiar faces that we once had countless pointless (and sometimes meaningful) conversations about everything and anything.  This forum is rarely the first place to find recent news for the band anymore.  Laura's releasing a book, a new live album came out, and both didn't have the same fire on this forum as similar announcements in the past. I feel like the band and Laura have different priorities at the moment, which isn't creating too many "Against Me!" topics.  News about the band seems to be entirely about Laura and all her projects she's managing at the moment.  

I'm just rambling on at this point.  I still love this band, and I can still play along to all their records, front, back, every song...

I'll still make it to any show they'll play that's nearby.  Just remember:

This is my exact feeling. I lost the love when it became the Laura show. I can't identify with anything they are doing anymore other than the fact that I often wear a lot of black.

I just haven't been able to get into anything the band had released since the WC demos came out. Aside from FML666... that song is pretty okay, despite having the dumbest title ever. I still listen to most of the older material fairly regularly, but the band isn't doing much for me anymore.

I wore an old AM hoodie today, and it reminded me to stop by for once. Sup everybody?
