I think with them being on their own label, there will be less time between recording and the release. Like I remember them finishing White Crosses in October-November 2009 but it was officially released until June of next year. So like 10 months between recording and release.
I would bet that it will about 5-6 months after recording wraps that the record drops so I would be say maybe late 2012 hopefully because I don't think they've officially started recording yet. So it may be a few months until recording wraps.

I think it would take longer to get the next album out. Recording is one thing but the logistics of releasing is another issue. Getting all the CD's and vinyls printed, then getting them out to stores along with promotion for the album sounds like a tough job and this is the first time their doing it on their own.

Do you really need a big promotion cycle in 2012? I don't think so. With Total Treble, the band can forego that 3-6 month lag from the mastering to release, (hopefully) protect the album from leaking, then sell at their own price point in the formats they want to sell it in.

That was my thinking exactly. Less time between mastering/recording and actual release

Sorry for the late reply...
Basically, sixteen songs were registered for White Crosses. Fourteen were released but two weren't, although DJ's Soul got an acoustic release on Black Crosses
White Crosses -- 11259088 I Was a Teenage Anarchist -- 11259089 Because of the Shame -- 11259090 Suffocation -- 11259091 We're Breaking Up -- 11259092 High Pressure Low -- 11259093 Ache with Me -- 11259094 Rapid Decompression -- 11259095 Spanish Moss -- 11259096 Bamboo Bones -- 11259097 Bitter Divisions -- 11259098 One by One -- 11259099 Bob Dylan Dream -- 11259100 David Johansen's Soul -- 11259101 Lehigh Acres -- 11259102 Dead Generations -- 11259103
Also, Strip Mall Parking Lots was registered when the acoustic version of it was released with the High Pressure Low single, while Soul Surrender and Hot Shots were registered together to be released on Black Crosses =)
Strip Mall Parking Lots -- 12144659
Hot Shots -- 13243855 Soul Surrender -- 13243856
Dead Generations was a song that the forum tended to call Andrew's Sexy Shake, because Andrew shook maracas to the song and Tom laughed presumably because it was sort of like a wanking rhythm. However, DJ's Soul had two video clips on Tom's blog, with just piano, drums and vocals, which you can see here and here.
Also, for some reason, Lehigh Acres & One by One swapped places on the White Crosses/Black Crosses release. Why, I do not know.
I hope you found this post interesting and informative

So it's probably gonna be more heavy. Osama and Black Me Out both kinda seem heavy anyway, that's assuming they're even being considered for the next album.
Pow!

I hope Black Me Out at least gets an acoustic bside release or something. That chord progression is to beautiful to be mudded down by full band.
I agree the new album will probably be heavier. Which will be cool to hear, but I still hope for some in your face punk like Occult Enemies.
I hope the new albums name is "Osama Bin Ladin is The Crucified Christ" then has a really disturbing cover art that is to extreme for stores and has to be blurred out (My Dark Beautiful Twisted Fantasy anyone?)

Hi, first post here
I saw that Tom posted on Twitter a few pictures that make it look like they've started recording.. Hopefully we get it this summer
I really want the piano version of DJ's Soul, for some reason I just can not stop listening to it haha. I have tweeted Tom a few times telling him they should put it on the next album
Also Black me Out is pretty good too, wonder what it would sound like with a full band. Only version I have heard is Tom at that acoustic show in the weird alley.
Really excited for this. Seems like the band is going in the right direction again. Jay is an awesome drummer

They played Black Me Out again at Musink. I'm gonna call the new album being titled Black Me Out.

White Crosses and New Waves were pretty poor album names. They need iconic album names that are a statement (RAR, ATEC, SFAFC [to a lesser extent Crime as Forgiven by]) imo. An album named Black Me Out isn't very clever or complex. If they where to name it after a song I'd like Osama Bin Ladin Is The Crucified Christ.

IDK that, to me, seems like a title thats being controversial just for being controversial's sake

They should name the album "Koala Bears are cute." or something. That'll throw people off the Oregon trail.

New Wave was a pretty good title in the sense it was a new chapter in the bands career. They were the band they wanted to hear and were being played on the radio and MTV and such.
The title white Crosses on an album gets me thinking about some kind of political/religious stance without being too pushy. Osama Is the Crucified Christ would be too much and like Cool said controversial just for being controversial's sake
Here they are with their own label adding yet another chapter so i hope the next title reflects that change.
I've always been a fan of albums that were named after a particular lyric.
