Anyone else have Spotify? I just got it a couple weeks ago and I absolutely love it. I got the premium version so I have some invites so if you guys want an invite (only way to get it here in America) just let me know. Its fucking awesome.

I have it and love it. I really want the premium version to use on mobile....but I just can't justify it. The free version is perfectly okay...for now! haha

The free version is great. But having on mobile is awesome. I just got to test it out while flying home last week and I could listen to all my songs in the off line mode and that was very cool.

Pretty much millions of songs for free at your disposal. It's awesome and is very fast. It's just coming over to America, that's why its by invite only right now. Apparently its pretty big in Europe.

How do services like Spotify work with regards to the record companies and paying bands?

When I listen to The Disco Before the Breakdown, does money change hands? I subscribe to the premium service, so does some of that cost go back to Against Me for making that album available offline?

I'm sure record companies get a minor cut of what's streamed. If not, they may just put their music on Spotify for one big fee, then Spotify makes all it's money on ads and premium users.

I'm guessing the money goes
People/ads --> Spotify --> Record companies --> Artist. With everyone taking a little cut inbetween

I've read that artists get .002 cents per play.
Best part is listening to others' playlists.
And you don't have to have an invite to get Spotify in the US.
- Get a London zip code
- Go to a UK proxy
- Go to spotify.com
- sign up
- then change location to US when you want.
tis what i did...
but it is easy to get invites if you want to do that for some reason...
