| Since I'm stressing over my math final, I've decided to start this. A thread dedicated to math, whether it be bragging about what you know, looking for sympathy, or help.
Math is awesome, cause it makes sense, most of the time.

| This took me so long to type up, this was a couple weeks ago. I made a few errors, transferring it from paper to the online submitting page. but the prof overlooked that. fun game! try to find the errors. (I think it's mostly right thought) | |

| Proofs are a pain, basically, I just memorize how the teacher does it in the notes, then replicate it if they ask for it... but if on a test, they ask to apply it, I'm fucked. | |

| The cool thing about the hyperbolic trig functions is that that they really don't have anything to do with trig, but they have really similar properties to the trig functions.
sinh x = cosh x dx for example

Also, do you guys think the teacher who introduces math to you first is an important factor in you (dis)liking it?

| I was like 4 or 5 when math was introduced to me, so I can't know for sure how that affected my opinion of it. However, at that age, we are incredibly adaptive and receptive to learning, so I do believe that it will have an effect on the child's opinion of math. | |

| Really? That young? I was 12 when I first got math. In our primary school we only get rekenen (=counting in Dutch). It doesn't qualify as being math over here. | |

Some like the idea of math, being rigid, and concrete, where everything is defined and accounted for. Others like the more artistic view where everything just is. Not sure if that makes any sense, I can't really explain.

| When I was in England, in year 1, we were definitely doing addition and subtraction. That said, the year after, when I did grade 1 in Canada, I don't think I did as much math. | |

My thoughts exactly. I wish I liked math but I just can't do it. I like logic and proofs and shit like that but the rest just makes me want to puke.

| i've pretty much given up on math because I always write down the wrong number.
Like I may be thinking 9 but I write down a 3 instead. It's lead to way to many anxiety attacks during tests.

| I hate it when you spend so much time and get a much more complicated answer than you should... And when it you get it back, you added wrong on the first step. | |
