| Better after a few listens, but I still skip a lot of the songs.
45, National Anthem, Mae, and Handwritten are all great though.

Really? I love this album so much. Their best since Sink Or Swim. It's growing on me, as I expected.

| Handwritten, Biloxi, Mae, and Here Comes my Man were the first to jump out at me. Gotta love the Nirvana cover. 45 is good too but I got the single when it came out so its not as new to me. | |

| I used to fucking love Gaslight. Now, I just kinda like Gaslight. They're not doing anything wrong by any means, I just can't really get into (what is probably) their "sound". But I'll always have Sink Or Swim. | |

| The more I listen to Handwritten the less I like it. It's still good and better than American Slang just not what I hoped for when they said they;d be returning to the 59' Sound style. | |

| Where did they say that? All I ever heard from Brian on the subject went along the lines of not caring about making it like '59, because it wasn't '59. | |

| I definitely remember them saying that they were going back to the style of '59 Sound instead of building of off American Slang's sound.
Edit: Found it

| I'll have to dig and find the article(s) i'm referencing. I guess he changed his mind haha. I believe they were a bit more recent than the one you linked.
Either way, oh well I suppose. Handwritten is growing on me more and more, but nothing has topped '59 in my book.

| Saw them for the first time last night with Hot Water Music and (ugh) Rise Against. The venue sounded like shit and I hated the crowd, but there were some nice surprises (Gaslight played Boomboxes and Dictionaries, Senor and the Queen, and even Sliver!). I really hope I get a chance to see them headlining at a better location. | |

| So fucking bummed right now. I paid $60 to see them and HWM open for Rise Against last night. HWM got 30 minutes and Gaslight only 40 minutes! After Gaslight's set we just sat there for 30 minutes until RA! They weren't even setting up or anything, just sitting there! Plus the oldest songs they played were '59 Sound and Great Expectations. Then the rest were off of American Slang and Handwritten and not even the ones I liked (except 45).
I watched 4 songs of Rise Against's set, didn't regonize a single song, almost fought a dude in an Affltiction shirt with a fauxhawk, and left supremely pissed.

Gaslight played Boomboxes, and maybe another from sink or swim. I left about 3 songs into rise against.

| Ok, don't get me wrong, yesterday's show was good. It really was.
But a band becoming more and more famous and popular has its down sides. Like The Gaslight Anthem now fills big venues and I don't like standing that far away from the stage. I without doubt prefer small venues. And it's also okay to see people at shows I usually don't see. It's okay when artists attract people who usually are not into this kind of music or... not in the kind of music I'm into. But standing between couples and seniors it's really hard to dance. Somehow we were a really boring audience yesterday.
On the other hand, Dave Hause and Blood Red Shoes were really awesome and Gaslights played Boomboxes which I like at least as much as raptosaurus does. And they played that cover of Nirvana's Silver.
And they sell disgusting beer in Frankfurt.
Ok, that's all I wanted to say. Please read the first line again. Breakout out.

It was the same the same here But they played "old haunts" and "keepsake" I love both of those songs, so everything's good xD
