GOT COURT TOMORROW!!!

So tomorrow morning i must awake from my bed at 4:30 am to take a 3 1/2 hour drive up to oneonta, ny to go to court for an underage drinking ticket. i am really not looking forward to this, and not to mention the incredibly awkward long car ride with my father. this should be great. has anyone ever gotten a ticket for this or anything like it? just trying to figure out whats gonna happen.

I didn't move to Oneonta until after I was 21, but considering the amount of drinking/drunk driving/illegal drug use in that town, I can't imagine the consequences are that bad.

well i havent got one of these but the ride should be pretty awkard!

i got a ticket in Morehead, MN. It was a $210 underage drinking ticket. We pleaded not guilty and my pops talked to the DA for me. What happened was, I had to pay $100 court fee and the ticket was dropped under the stipulation that I don't get another ticket within 9 months. It's been 15 or so w/o a ticket, so my record is clean!

i'm just gonna listen to music the whole way up and pray for a tiny fine of some sort

my friend's boyfriend got underage drinking in rio rancho with a judge that was apparently "really harsh" with alcohol related cases. All he got was 16 hours of community service and the charge was dropped.

They're taking you to COURT for underage drinking?! Is this normal practise? Seems a bit excessive and a bit of a waste of public money for such a meaningless offence.

The UK is so lenient on underage drinking. If CSO's catch you drinking, they just pour your cans away

Oneonta is a college town with a pretty bad drinking/drug problem, they're trying to be more and more strict about that stuff as the years go on.

Yeah exactly, and rightly so. It's a fairly meaningless offence.

They may have a bad drink/drugs problem but to be honest it's still a waste of public money. People aren't afraid of going to court for an offence they know they can only be fined for.

Or, at least, Saskatchewan. Though, I don't know if that's just police officers being lenient, or what.

I agree, but at least they're trying to do SOMETHING about it.

my brother was caught when he was 16 stealing booze from Wal Mart drunk off his ass, he only got a couple hours of community service and drug alcohol classes

so i returned back to my hometown with nothing but a $50 fine, the judge said if i had lived closer i would have to do community service and attend aa meetings since i was caught in a bar. if i had been outside a bar and got the same ticket i would just have the fine. shows you what kind scam they got going on

Kieran: no, sadly I can't make it severe lack of any money coupled with two sodding coursework assignments has essentially killed my chances of doing anything fun in the foreseeable future :/

Absolutely and completely. At least if you're in a bar you're not "out on the streets causing trouble".

Oneonta is a crappy town to live in. I'm sure visiting is fun, especially if you like bars, and bars, and bars, and pizza, and munchies, and bars, because that's all there is.

the first time i listened to the '59 Sound was in oneanta. my brother had a baseball game there and i went. i was bored so i just hung out in the parking lot listening to my ipod (i had put it on my ipod anticipating boredom) i listened to it like 10 times that night.

it was my first time there, and i was having a great time until the cops showed up
