I'm suprised there isn't a thread already about them!

They are still without a doubt my favourite band ever. Recently my music taste has been evolving, but the Larry Arms will always remain at the top stop. They were the first band I ever saw live, supporting Rise Against and Mad Caddies about 5 years ago.

I actually got this t-shirt in the post today, it's fucking sweeeeeet!

I love eBay.

I would say just listen to all of their albums because they are all good in different ways.

Listen to:

Brickwall Views
The Corpses of Our Motivations
Drunk Mouth Kitchen Smile
Presenting: The Dancing Machine (The Robot With The Monkey Head)
100 Resolutions
A Toast
The Devil's Takin' Names

Yeah I love that song.

Brendan and Chris are 2 seriously amazing songwriters. Just listen to this part of Brickwall Views:

Quote :

I've got some older pictures,
of people i see once every couple years.
Intrigued or unamazed.
"You were so much different back in those days."

And now this smile has a bitter curve.
Now these eyes are unenchanted.
And all we see is a faded image of what we used to be.
How can we relate?
When we don't know a thing about each other anymore?
When we don't know each other anymore?

Is there a gesture i could use to clearly express,
I'm at an utter loss for words.

It hits me so hard every time I hear it.

the lawrence arms have always been at the top of favorites. I think it was Cocktails and Dreams that made me think, "wow."
And minty, chris is a very good songwriter, especially the songs he wrote for sundowner.

I recently saw Sundowner live at a house show, and smoked a spliff with Chris afterwards!

I can't tell whose songwriting I prefer, Brendan has some fantastic lines like:

"Drink and the funeral, piss on the corpse. Yell at the sun 'till your voice is all hoax. I'm gone, this is goodbye."

they do make a pretty good team. I'm assuming chris wrote 100 Resolutions, since he recorded it for Sundowner. This also happens to be one of my favorite LA songs

That's amazing! I seen him in Aberdeen and Edinburgh with Sye (ClockworkRobot) and they stayed at her house. Between the 2 shows he played Brickwall Views, Boatless Booze Cruise, Intransit, Fireflies, One Hundred Resolutions and Faintly Falling Ashes, as well as a bumload of Sundowner and both nights he got on stage to play Challenging Me with Mike Park. It was fucking amazing, I've never got to see TLA yet so this was kind of the closest I could get. One day though, one day.

I've been wanting to get the timer tattooed on my back for a while, I'm gonna start ebaying CDs I never listen to anymore to start a tattoo fund because I've been itching to get it done.

Chris wrote One Hundred Resolutions, but Brendan wrote Boatless Booze Cruise which also appears on the Sundowner album. It sounds great with Chris's voice.

Aww you got Brickwall Views and Faintly Falling Ashes? Sad

This was the setlist for Southampton:

Intransit
This War Is Noise
Fireflies
The Sea of Lights
Jackson Underground
One Hundred Resolutions
Boatless Booze Cruise
Midsummer Classic
Chapter 13: The Hero Appears
Audio Geography

I'm also pretty sure he played First Eviction Notice, but maybe I just imagined it.

Chris only played it because people bribed him with beer...and even then, he forgot the words to the second verse. Someone actually went on the internet on their mobile phone, found the lyrics, and held them up for him!

After the gig, he told me that he thought it was hilarious. He also told me it was the first time he had played Fireflies in a few years.

Haha that's amazing. Yeah we got those songs, on the first night Chris asked if there was anything anyone wanted to heard and I yelled FAINTLYFALLINGASHES to beat the crowd despite only standing like 2 feet in front of him or something hahah. They were great, though saying that I would have loved to have seen Chapter 13, that song slays.

The acoustic version of The Devil's Takin Names
The Ramblin' Boys Of Pleasure
The Disaster March
Abracadaver
Nebraska

and I mean you gotta love Neil singing 106 South.

And I agree with what was said above.. there's not a bad song on Oh! Calcutta!

Something about it sends shivers down my spine. But I kinda prefer hearing that line from Chuck Ragan. At least I think it's Chuck. Sometimes Chuck and Chris sound really similar.

I figured you loved that line. I love that song so much, it hurts a little. You know how sometimes, a song feels like the singer is reading your mind? I get that a LOT when I listen to TLA.
