She'll never go to jail, she was working with the FBI. But what she did was fucked up, and I don't know how she can live with herself.

for entrapment to take place you must know that they are cops.

if you do anyhting illegal or get into something like this always ask everyone your working with if they are a cop. If they answer no and it turns out they are its entrapment.

the first lyrics are tricky, but i think its the last names of the other two "activists". i find it interesting to see that eric is the only first name listed. the other two are identified by last name. the media often does this in troubling situations to attach a face to a name, to point out the importance of the person. missing children are always named by their first name should the kidnapper be watching in order to show their importance.

the names are rushed because they dont really fit the 4/4 tempo of the song, but if this is what it is, it really does a good job of calling attention to the fact that we need to listen to what is about to be said.

Actually, if you read the article about the Eric McDavid case, the other people involved were called Jenson and Wren. Those weren't their last names. The girl was named Lauren but she went by Wren.

Edit: My bad, Jenson IS the last name of one of the activists. Their names were Lauren Weiner and Zachary Jenson, but from what I read they always referred to him as Jenson so maybe that's just what he went by?

I agree, but talking about committing acts of terrorism still warrants some attention. And despite how wrong the FBI is, the fact is that when given the resources, they went from talk to action. And because of that, not only should Eric be in prison, so should the other two, and so should Anna and whoever authorized the FBI operation.

I like the song, but damn if I am not disturbed by the fact that my favourite band is basically saying they support acts of violence so long as it's violence against some make believe enemy. I really am disturbed by that.

Unless the "he fell in love with an FBI informant" line implies that the song is really about relationships, and how people are basically dishonest about how and why they fall in love. Maybe it's really just a song about how cynical people are about love.

its based on a true story. toms been writing songs he admittedly lifts from the news. example: "nuclear cowboys in an age of drift" is in fact a newsweek article under the same name. current events are becoming more of an issue it seems. i guess "dont miss your chance to see it while its all happenin'". and before, in an interview, from her lips to gods ears was almost word for word was said to be based on words lifted from a tv newscast.

I'm pretty sure he's saying "CrimethInc. Conference." It's hard to hear cause he sings it so quickly, but that's what he's saying. CrimethInc. is the anarchist group that Eric belonged to, and it's where he met Anna.
