Inspired by a discussion in another thread.
Anyone else love 'em? Lots seem to prefer YFW to their other two CDs, but I think Deja and Devil & God are far superior; they're the reason I love Brand New. If YFW was their only album I'd probably only be half arsed about this band.
Jesse is a motherfuckin' lyrical genius too.

He is indeed a lyrical genius. I bought YFW when I was in middle school and I loved it so much, but I think that their two other albums are far better musically. YFW is damn catchy but the lyrics in Deja and Devil & God are just amazing. It's interesting to see how much their sound has changed over the course of their career, but I like the changes.

Hell yeah. YFW is fairly traditional pop-punk as far as I'm concerned; yeah it's got an edge that a lot of pop-punk doesn't have but it's not hugely different. Deja and D&G are just a whole other level.
They've progressed so much as a band and I can only think it's for the better, which is really refreshing since many bands never seem to match up to their first couple of records. Have you heard anything about a new album? I haven't searched the music news for one but I wondered if anyone here had heard anything on the grapevine?

...is probably my favourite song.
For sentimental reasons though, so it's probably not so much my favourite these days since the thing it was attached to is long in the past.

I missed them when they came down here, I still regret that but I guess they'll come down again. I was listening to YFW the other night and it reminded me of being in year 9/10 again and I really miss that. I should stop dwelling on the past haha.

Buuump. Anybody else seeing them on their current tour? I'll be at the October 16 show and I'm pretty stoked about it. Checked out the opening bands and really couldn't get into them, but I haven't seen Brand New since Warped Tour 03 or 04 so I couldn't pass on the chance.
The new song is pretty good too

going to 5 shows on the upcoming tour - 1 in st louis with manchester orchestra who I love and 4 with thrice who my friend loves. wasn't too excited when I heard the new song on my laptop but heard it a few times this weekend in the car when my fav sirius/xm station played it and loved it. can't wait for the new album and to hear the new songs live.

Love it.
The kick in on the first track was such a great blast in the face, and then it was just glorious. Different to their other works, but I really, really like it. It feels much more twisted.

just got home from flying to st louis to see brand new and manchester orchestra at the pageant and it was amazing. got to see brand new do an acoustic performance at vintage vinyl in the afternoon before the show. the first opening band was one of the worst I've ever seen, I swear the first few songs sounded like a whale singing. loved how the "daisy" songs sounded live, especially vices. they ended the set with "play crack the sky" and for me it doesn't get any better than that. can't wait till november when I'll be seeing them five more times.

first off... I FREAKIN LOVE YOUR SIGNATURE.
anywho. i was gonna go to that show. just to see manchester orchestra again. when i saw them they played seven songs, all off of mean everything to nothing. and i left before they had even finished taking down their stuff, i didn't want anything to do with the silversun pickups. i wish it was the brand new tour...

thank you, at first I couldn't decide between that lyric or "when I fly solo, I fly so high" but the other one is my absolute fav MO lyric.
I saw on that tour and the beginning of this one they were strictly playing new songs and I was kinda bummed, I love the new songs but I think live versions of songs off the first album are so much better than the studio ones. They play with so much intensity and passion, plus I love seeing the keyboardist go batshit when they play. Thankfully at this show they played "Now That You're Home" which made me super happy, I had my fingers crossed hoping for "Wolves At Night" but I'll take what I can get.
