Hello. I'm Laura D. I'm a transgender person who would like to attend the Athens show en femme. I've never seen Against Me! before and I don't know how enlightened the whole of the crowd truly is to Laura Jane Grace's journey. It's a rock show after all. . .do you think some drunk will fuck with me if I come to the show dressed as a woman?

I'm certain that everyone in the room would know about Laura's transition (the album is called 'Transgender Dysphoria Blues' and she came out publicly in Rolling stone magazine).

In regards to the show, I think you'll be fine; there'll probably be a few other 'trans' people at the show. You might even get a hug from Laura.

i went to laura's philly show last year with a trans friend and she found everyone there to be extremely friendly. lots of trans folks in the audience, too. you should be fine

Regarding the show, even if some drunk (or not drunk) would assault you for your appearance, which I don't expect to happen, I'm sure there are many others around to support and assist you. So, I'd say, go there and have fun! (And in the worst case scenario, just punch the fucker in the face.)

My name is Nick- I will be at the show and most likely the listening party, as well. I really wouldn't expect any issues whatsoever at the show. Yes, there are always college bro-types looking to start trouble (more likely in a being-obnoxious-and-inappropriate-for-the-sake-of-it verbal way, rather than a physical one) but as previously mentioned, I think you will find most folks would intervene.

Try to follow a group of people walking towards the venue. Again, I wouldn't foresee any issues, but that advice applies to solo girls and guys across the board.

I'm a short, broad-shouldered guy with glasses and a short haircut. While I don't think you'll need my assistance in a fist-fight, do come say hello!
