PostSubject: Re: ask the person below you...   ask the person below you... - Page 10 Icon_minitimeSat Oct 05, 2013 10:15 pm

I was in ninth grade. At the beginning of my second period sculpture class a girl walked in and said 2 planes hit the twin towers. I didn't know what she meant but my father worked on the 59th floor of the north tower so I got scared and took off out of class to find my sisters. We went home and watched what was happening on tv for fucking hours watching the planes hitting, then the buildings falling. Being replayed over and over to the point where it made me really mad because we didn't know if my dad was there or alive or dead or anything. No cellphones in New York were working at all. Eventually around 3 o clock my dad got to a working phone and explained how he was at the gym in the morning and had not got to work yet when the planes hit. He ended up walking about 15 miles before he could get a ride home. It was the worst day of all time but I remember it all with such vivid detail like no other moment in my life. Most of my dads co workers were able to get out of the building as it was hit first and fell second. It's crazy when you think about how much things have changed since 9/11, but also funny how some things seem the same. New York is still New York.
Well that was a long post!

What is your most vivid memory?

Glad your dad was ok!

I don't know if this is my most vivid memory, but I'm sure it's somewhere high up the list. When I was a volleyball player we had the national championship at the end of the season (late may), and that would go a little something like this: The country would be divided in sixteen different regions and the champions of those regions would play a play-off game against the champion of a neighbouring region. The remaining eight teams would go to the finals, all of them taking place on the same day at the same venue. First there would be group matches, followed by the semi-finals and then of course the final, and the games for third, fifth, and seventh place. This one year we were playing the finals in Almere, and as we were playing our match, another one was taking place on the pitch right next to ours, and one of the players there landed in such an awkward fashion that he broke his lower leg and both his tibia and fibula were sticking out.

Then there was this other time, during one of the first games I ever played, when some guy, he was wearing glasses, didn't close his block properly. The ball struck him right on the nose and he got his glasses jammed into his nose, breaking it in the process and bleeding all over the place.

What's the worst injury you've ever had, or witnessed?

I haven't had much for injuries. I fractured my wrist like a year and a half ago, drunkenly seeing how high I could go up a quarter pipe/wall on my skateboard. A friend of mine has seriously broken a bunch of his bones and shit, I've never been there fore it, but I've heard some stories.

Stuffed chicken nuggets. Basically make a batter, slice up chicken into a bunch of nuggets. Slit a pocket in each one, and stuff with the tasty things. Fry in oil. You can make so many variations. Or pepper jack chicken pasta.

Do you want some updog?

I guess 'ceiling' would have been the correct word instead of 'roof'. Whatever. They look like this. And sometimes if you stare long enough you can see faces in the texture.

Right! You probably won't believe this, but I've got the same kind of ceiling! When I was young I thought there were little people living in my ceiling.

What would happen if you got high and then stare at a popcorn ceiling?

My guess is you would lay there for an hour longer then planned and eventually fall asleep.
I believe that material is called stucco. (As I stare at the white stucco ceiling.)
Unless I have no idea what I'm talking about and they're two totally different things. That's always possible.

Whatchu doin this weekend?!

Well I was supposed to go to my friend's wedding tomorrow but now I'm not. Mainly because I can't afford it as the wedding is a 6 hour drive away so gas plus hotel means about $500 and considering I haven't had a job since August, money is a little tight. But it's also more than that, we used to be best friends, pretty much all through college. But now, we've only seen each other a handful of times the past year or two. And when we do it's always me that initiates contact and most of the time he's busy. He never texts/calls me out of the blue to do something. Plus to top it all off his fiancee has 5 bridesmaids while he only has 3 groomsmen (including his best man). I mean, come on, I would get it if you left me off when you had equal numbers, but she has more and you still don't consider me even just to even things up? What the fuck is up with that?

I still feel guilty about not going though.

I realize this doesn't really answer the question as this is what I'm not doing this weekend, so I'll add that I'm going to see Anchorman 2 tomorrow.

What was your favorite album of this past year?

I don't really have one, but if I had to pick one I would go for Wheel by Laura Stevenson

Is someone going to start one of those 'best of the year' threads again soon?

Any suggestions to what other "best of"-list you could make? (Reputation point for an original answer)

Lord of the Rings. Blow smoke rings in the shire.

Do you think Gandalf the White would have made a better headmaster at Hogwarts than Dumbledor? Or, perhaps, do you think Dumbledor would have been a better Gandalf the White than Gandalf the White?

You're crazy if you think that Dumbledore would be able to pull off 'you shall not pass!'. So no; I think they're fine where they are.

Is there anything to be excited about in (the rest of) 2014?
