Arizona's new immigration law

Arizona is crazy. They pretty much had to be coerced into recognizing MLK Day. It's a day off of work/school; just take it, jeez. Anyway, San Francisco is calling for a boycott of Arizona so stuff might be getting more interesting.

I wonder if some of us Americans realize we're the illegal immigrants. This wasn't our land, we came in and took it. Half of USA used to be Mexico(Spain)...WE TOOK IT FROM THEM, it's their land.

California has had similar shit happen but it got over turned.

Prop 187, school teachers had to turn in children who didn't have green cards. Thats kind of ridiculous. But it was ruled unconstitutional.

I don't see a problem with this law in that it should be okay to INVESTIGATE a suspected illegal immigrant.

However, I do see a problem with forcing them out of AZ if they are then discovered through those means.

So overall, fuck this law.

It's illegal, it'll get turned by the feds, it has to. You have a right to refuse to show documentation, I'm at work right now, but I know that law exists somewhere, I will look it up later if I have to.

The whole "show me your papers" thing was actually what made me think of apartheid. I read the play Sizwe Bansi Is Dead in English, and one of the big themes is about the black people having to carry their identity books everywhere. It's a good play, too. A little odd to read, without seeing the people, but good nonetheless.
