introducin myself --

Hey kids-

I'm a noob here. I'm Gary and live here in New York. I've probably been listening to Against me for about 4 years now. First album I got was reinventing Axl Rose --- I bought it off of Interpunk.com

My favorite album by Against Me! is Searching for a former clarity (a close second is "a disco before the breakdown"). I'm a huge Jawbreaker fan, and they are what largely attributed to me learning to play guitar and being so interested in playing music. And "searching for a former clarity" is produced by Jay Robbins (the former bassist of the band Jawbox). This guy J Robbins is a genius and also produced some of Jawbreakers best work.

My favorite song right now by them is probably "Turn Those Clapping Hands Into Angry Balled Fists."

Oh for the record, I don't listen to Against Me! as much as I did in the past. But they are still one of my favorite bands. There was a time in my life not too long ago when I would listen to the 3 songs on Disco before the breakdown on constant loop while sitting on the subway. I wish I had known about this forum back when I was even more intensely passionate about the band.

lauren is one of my only friends on last.fm --- i just really started getting into that site. i've been using it to listen to music at work, and realized i was a loser with no LastFM friends. i asked a bunch of people who were listed under "neighbors" hah

I think everyone in this forum should become friends on last.fm, because I have a feeling the majority of us probably have accounts there, and might even make up a majority of AM!'s top listeners, too...

none of my bum ass music friends have a last.fm account. they're more into the myspace and thesixtyone.com and other sites that you can post music directly up on.

really? I thought it was pretty huge. I had one I started in 2005 but I deleted it because it contained embarrassing evidence of my not so great musical phases...then I missed it too much so I just had to get back on. but I saw some guy on there the other day thinking he had bragging rights because he'd scrobbled like 30,000 tracks, and it made me wish I still had my old one cuz I had like 350,000 tracks on that thing. like 100,000 were AM! hahaha

Yea I think some of these people just must leave their iTunes on 24/7..

i listen to music on my ipod mostly, so since it started having the scrobble feature from the ipod tracks, i've really liked it. it's interesting looking at my own personal music listening habits on the charts. makes me see what i should listen to more, and what i'm naturally inclined to listen to. I never realized the pixies would be in my top 10 artists (but i guess i do listen to 'em quite a bit)

and i personally dont know anyone with a last fm account.
