| My roommate is a music education major, her main instrument is clarinet but she has to learn all kinds of ridiculous things. Last semester she had Oboe and Sax (which she taught me a little bit of for an education class, so that was kind of cool). She practices at home because she's too lazy to go to school (across the street, seriously, you can see it from my front yard), and her bedroom door doesn't close all the way. So that's at least 2 hours of her practicing scales or the same song over and over every day. When she isn't practicing, she likes to whistle and talk on the phone loudly, telling the same boring story over and over to everybody she knows. She's pretty much non-stop noise whenever she's home. But really, my biggest issue is that she's always upset and stressed out and complaining, and it rubs off on me. OTHER THAN THAT, she's really not all that bad. I just like to complain about her because before this I was living with a good friend for two years and we were the best roommates ever. We also had really really awesome neighbors that would throw dance parties in the middle of the day and take requests for songs as to not annoy all of us who had to listen. We, on the other hand, made them listen to all the bad pop music that we pleased every time we cleaned the apartment, but they never complained once. Maybe they just secretly liked Whitney Houston... | |

| I have two roommates. One of them insists on sleeping next to me every morning, but he's so fat and short that I have to wake up and lift him onto the bed with me. Then, he runs to my pillow before I can lay back down and he puts his butt right in my face until I yell at him to move. He snores loudly and he eats all of our food. If I don't prepare dinner at 5 p.m. on the dot every night, he cries and cries until I do what he wants. The other roommate is loud and shrill. She really is very lazy, she sits in the window all day long and screams at whoever walks by. She hates everybody. She hates to bathe, and whenever I tell her that it's time for a bath she digs her fingers into my skin until I bleed, and then she won't look at me for days afterward because she's so upset. She's about 8 inches tall, yet she picks fights with anybody who crosses her path. Sometimes she cuddles next to me, and acts very loving, but then I open my bedroom door and step in a puddle of her piss. She's only nice to me when she knows she's done something wrong. I'm talking about my black lab and chihuahua of course, but I consider them roommates too. |

| Roommates from hell: I have two. We lived in student accommodation last year and things seemed okay then, but they both moved home over summer leaving me to find somewhere to live. Finding three bedroom flats in my city is a pain in the anus to say the least, it's so competitive you basically need to view a flat and sign a lease in the same day. This meant I was going to a bunch of viewings on my own with a little idea of what were good qualities to have in a flat while my flatmates were 200 miles away expecting me to do all the work. The fact that we got anywhere at all is a miracle but the place we do have, they constantly bitch and moan about it. ALL THE TIME. Oh emm gee the flat is so cold. Oh em gee you'd think the landlord would give us X Y or Z. Oh em gee the bills are so high this month. It all seems like they have a problem with me because I found the flat, despite the fact that they pretty much point blank refused to help out and travel to view the flats with me even though neither of them worked all summer except for the odd weekend. One of then got her old job back when she moved back to Aberdeen after summer BUT the other hasn't bothered to get a job and whines about how much everything costs all the fricking time. Let's call them C and M. C works and can afford to pay her way in the flat because she always has a little more than she needs; the problem is that she pays her rent late because she spends all of her money on manga and alcohol. M has not bothered to even apply to jobs despite telling us since forever that she needs one and would get a job soon. As a result she has very little money which I wouldn't mind if she wasn't such a contradiction; she spends all day on her laptop watching the Sarah Connor Chronicles or some other shit and then whines to C and I when the electricity meter needs to be topped up, whining about shit like us apparently leaving the microwave lights on. On top of all this they're both messy as hell. C once made a pasta bake and left half of it in the casserole dish for over two weeks before cleaning it up. M eats the same thing every night (chicken kiev and chips, or pizza and chips) and concerned about her health I asked her when the last time she ate a vegetable was. Her reply was the last time she was home, which was over a month before then. She also eats a ridiculous amount of chocolate every single day (without fail) and sweets by the bucketload. She claims to be clean and chip in with the cleaning but I've never seen her do any more than wash her dinner plates. I guess it's a step up from C but still. C also had a phase where she'd sleep with her manager. I wouldn't mind IF he (clearly) wasn't just using our flat as somewhere convenient to sleep near his work and get his hole at the same time. He was a million miles from attractive, he didn't have a good personality or sense of humour, he had a child on the way at the time (the child has now been born and his current girlfriend, another one of his colleagues is apparently coping very badly with the situation), he didn't use protection, I'm pretty confused about C's motives for sleeping with him. Anyways long boring story turned into shorter boring story, C ended up falling in love with this waster who was using her for sex and M and I had to pick up the pieces. SIGH. I'm sure there's more I've forgotten but this is the jist of it. I live with the worst people ever, Sye will vouch for this I'm sure. There were some nights this semester where I just called home in tears but couldn't just go home because I had so much work to do for class and couldn't get time off from my part time job. The good news is that my friend Susan who is fucking cool as anything is going through the same problem right now so we're moving in together next year. P.S. I wish I lived with a labrador and a chihuahua. Shit would be so much easier then. | |

| My current housemates are three of the best people in the world. They have their bad sides, but don't we all..? They're some of my best friends and I wouldn't trade them for anything.
Last year in my halls was more hellish. I got on well with the lad, but the three girls were all incredibly two-faced and while sweet to my face, as soon as they thought I couldn't hear I was given the blame for everything that went wrong, of which only about 1% was even anything to do with me, never mind my fault.
Essentially they didn't like me because I don't shop at Topman, I don't like TV and I don't mind walking to Morrisons instead of having Tesco deliver all my fucking food individually. I also refuse to clean up after them despite making damn sure I clean up all my own mess and I do have a problem with them and their friends helping themselves to my food because they can't be arsed to keep a well stocked cupboard. I also enjoy music that isn't on Radio 1 and actually like to read the paper and socialise with my own friends in my own damn kitchen when they want to have 30 of their photocopied friends over. I shouldn't have to feel uncomfortable cooking myself a meal in said kitchen when they have said friends over en masse for some kind of "glare at Ross 'til he fucks off" party, and I shouldn't have to tidy the whole flat on my own at the end of the year so I can get my deposit back in order to afford to pay my deposit on the next house because they had a big party with their fucking retarded friends before leaving for the summer, never to return, and "don't worry, "daddy" will pay for everything, yet I'll still find time to moan about never having any money despite just spending my whole loan on fucking shoes".
I could go on but all this is making me angry <_<

| that really sucks that you guys have had bad experiences with roommates. i've only lived with two, and i've had ridiculous bromances with both of them. me and my current roommate even say "i love you" to each other when we go to sleep.
that's a complete lie, but we to sit on the same side of a booth every time we go out to dinner with other people, and he calls me at work to see how i'm doing. i <3 him.

| My boyfriend's sister was getting kicked out of her apt. and she needed somewhere to crash. Steve told her it would be ok if she crashed on our couch for a couple of days. Well she and all of her stuff moved in. She didn't have a job at first so she didn't help pay with bills or food. Once she got a job she still didn't help but i thought she was saving money to move out. Then one day I get home from work and there is brand new shoes at the door and she bought herself a new coat and a new pair of boots. She never ever cleaned once. No dishes. Nothing. The room she stayed in and the bathroom only she used was filthy. She didn't clean them even once. I would have to go in and vacuum and clean while she was at work because i couldn't stand it. She also would ask at like 9:30 pm if she could have a ride to work and she would need to be there by 10pm. She never, ever said thank you. She was always around and always on my computer for hours and hours talking on myspace aim or something or other. She would leave every light on in her room all damn day, including a bunch of Halloween lights that stayed up from day one until she moved out and I had to take them down. When she moved out after 3 fucking months of this shit, she still didn't clean up in the room she used or the bathroom. I will never ever let anyone live with me again after that. And when she left i was purposely waiting by the door to say goodbye and she just left without a thank you, I mean c'mon i supported her ass for 3 damn months. I hate to go on and on about this, but seriously i don't mind helping people out but NOT EVEN A THANK YOU?!!! really? how rude. | |

| She wasn't a roommate, more of a house mate. But she was bulimic and constantly forgot to flush the toilet after throwing up. That'll wake you up in the morning. | |

The only reason I came into this thread was to be all like LOL PEPE HAS SOME STORIES FOR YOU. but I see she has already told you them. It really is as bad as she says. Actually, no, I think it's a little worse. I have a weird Republican roommate who never eats vegetables and always bringe up the war in Iraw with me (LOL I'M HALF IRAQI, WHAT A TOOL) and talks about abortion with my other (FEMALE) roommate. When Obama got voted in, he was grumpy for DAYS. Yes. He voted for McCain. I don't know why either. Also, he never cleans, but thankfully, the other two and I do.

| In 2010 I moved to Berlin to start college but I didnt have enough time to find an apartment but then I met some people on campus and just moved in with them without thinking about it. We were 4+ me and everything was cool in the beginning and everyone seemed nice but things started getting weird I dont really remember any details or dont wanna go into it to be honest but it was pure horror. One of them turned out to be a real psycho and living there wasn't so fun anymore. One of the guys also started getting into drugs more and more and whenever you tried talking to him about somehting he'd be aggressive and yell at you for no reason. Then someone who always hung out in the apartment with us suddenly died...he was also the bf of the girl that lived there and things got worse. And I also kind of totally crashed the girls car...there was this concert I wanted to go to no matter what but I couldnt afford the ticket for the train+hotel. so she said i could take her car which was cool so i could sleep in it and all. but i had a really really bad accident and yeah...i dont remember too much but the car was damaged and i'm still paying for that damage -.- and there were always people around like ALWAYS! whenever i came home from somewhere there were strangers sitting in MY kitchen using my stuff and eating my food and looking at me like im the stranger and asking how the hell i go into the apartment and when i told them i lived there they didnt even care or tell me who they were and how long they were staying...stupid idiots! after a year of horrow and not feeling home at my own home i moved out. i meet two of them sometimes on campus and one of them is the girl...it's strange considering i still have to pay her all that money....just because of one concert...one moment... i always feel very uncomfortable meeting her. and the other one is the only one of them that's always been cool and easy going. i could have lived with him for 10more years without any problem
due to lack of money i then moved into a student accomodation. i thought it would be awesome and i would meet cool people and have the time of my life but it's just dirty and really loud 24/7. people are moving in and out and most of them dont really study they're just here for one semester to party and and destroy andthen they move out. and they're standing infront of your room at 4 in the morning partying and when you ask them politely not to be that loud because you have to get up at 6am they'll laugh about you and party even louder. I've been living here for over 2years now and the kitchen and everything is cleaner than ever but its still loud 24/7. But I still feel more comfy here than I ever felt since I moved out from my Mum's

| I sleep on an air bed in the living room of my friend's apartment and have been for almost 6 months. Turns out she's facing eviction (will be evicted Friday April 5) if she doesn't pay what she owes (which has been her half of the rent since I moved in because she's never paid in full her half, and I'm not on the lease). Plus she has a kid. We realize that we may been best friends for 10 years, but we can't live together. Surprised I haven't strangled her yet. | |
