| Saturday, December 20, 2008 1:00pm - 8:00pm Greek Consulate 69 E 79th St New York, NY (Forward widely and post everywhere) "Greece is the birth place of Democracy. It will also die here." (loose translation of words on banners hanging in a number of occupied Universities throughout Greece.) The 4th New England Assembly of the Northeast Anarchist Network is endorsing the call to a Day of International Action Against State Murders. The day of action is this coming Saturday, December 20th, 2008. We would like to encourage all of our friends and comrades in the Northeast of North America and beyond to plan demonstrations and direct actions in their local cities and towns, at police stations, prisons and jails, courthouses, Greek consulates and specific corporations contributing to the repression of our communities, of the Greek uprising and of peoples movements worldwide. On the eve of the darkest day of the year, we will mourn the death of our comrades and the death of democracy--a death brought on by the brutal tactics of police, the failure of the capitalist system, and the greed and apathy of political parties--and prepare for the dawn a new day of resistance, freedom and justice. Please bring literature and banners spreading the word about the Greek Uprising, police brutality and state repression in general. Our theme is "The Death of Democracy." NeAnarchist.net Meet at the Greek Consulate(69 E 79th St) at 1 pm. | |

| The more people who can come to this, the better. Please, if you can, come. Don't let solidarity be a four letter word... | |

| While what I posted was taken from the North East Anarchist Alliance's website, you do not need to be an anarchist to come to this event, or be of help. By acting in solidarity with the protestors in Greece this Saturday, a day which is scheduled to have many protest and rallies and events in solidarity with the Greeks, the word can spread about what is occuring, and hopefully the Greek government will realize that they have the power to stop what is going on by attempting to fix the economic crisis. While the death of Alexandros sparked these protest, and solidarity actions, many of the protests in Greece are continuing due to the youth's frustration with Greece's current economic state. 1 out of 5 people is unemployed in Greece currently, and many of those who are unemployed are educated individuals. The death of Alexandros was just the straw which broke the camel's back. Weather you're an anarchist, a liberal, a moderate, or even a conservative, the more people who come and show that they know what is going on, and wish for an end to both the riots, and the economic mess, the better. | |
